Asus M4A785TD-M EVO Intel P55-Based Core i5 – 7 Motherboard
If the title of this review raises a sense of déjà vu, do not worry, you’re not wrong, and we’re reviewing not the same product twice. Note that the M4A785TD Asus V-EVO, we discussed just now has a V-suffix after the model number of main board while we are considering today is the M4A785TD-M. What difference does a bill? Well, not bad, actually, as the “M stands’ for micro-ATX, which means this new model will fit in many cases smaller.

What with exciting new Intel P55 chipset (which appears in the recent review MSI P55-GD65) made the turn, we have not done an AMD based board in a while – but despite providing a true value excellent for the money, Intel P55-based Core i5 / 7 processors are not yet in the price range of everyone. If you are limited to the lower end of market budget AM3 versatile AMD-based boards are always a good option, provided they are compatible with almost all CPUs because AMD’s Socket-939 days and looking for ‘be compatible with future models for a good while yet.
If we had a complaint with the M4A785TD Asus V-EVO, it was that the great heart HD 4200 integrated graphics in chipset AMD 785G did not reach its full potential in an ATX motherboard size as those want to build a home theater PC (HTPC) would be looking for something to fit in a small form factor (SFF) system. Of course there is also a market segment for those who just want a PC workaholic single, integrated graphics which are perfectly adequate, but it is undeniable that the same crowd would still want a small PC if possible. Then see if the M4A785TD-M is a good option.
To begin, let’s look at the basic specifications. Based on AMD 785G chipset paired with SB710 southbridge, the board supports AM3 CPU, but is backward compatible with AM2, so even older AMD processors should have no problem. For the record, you are limited to DDR3, which until recently was the most expensive option (relative to the support of many motherboards AMD DDR2), but has now come to a price point where n ’s most significant difference. The bundle is very sparse included consideration of the board – while far from high end – is not exactly the cheapest model in Asus line-up. All you get more disk manual and driver is a single EIDE cable and two black SATA cables, one has a right-angle connector. [via trustedreviews]
