Asus UL50Vg 15.6in Notebook

Opening UL50Vg up, however, is like a bucket of cold water in the face. Although Bitty hinge is not very pretty, the author is here that the interior is constructed entirely using plastic glossy black, and yes, that includes the palm rest and touchpad. So it might look good initially, but unless you wipe each time after use, fingerprints, dust and grease stains will soon adorn the inside generously (although the dirt is not as clear models of money in the UL series).

Until recently, laptops affordable for consumers were a compromise: either you have a laptop small (ie with a screen of 13in or less) with good battery life, or a big (15.6in and over) with decent battery life just the best. There was not much choice if you want both a large screen and battery life excellent, but Asus expects to join with the Acer Aspire in the Timeline 5810T offers exactly that. In fact, the punters, Acer said it to eight hours of battery life by a considerable margin, claiming up to an incredible 12 hours! This is particularly impressive considering the large 15.6in screen UL50Vg, so we’ll see if Asus latter can live up to the hype.

With the laptop closed, the first impression is certainly positive. At its thickest point it measures 26.4mm – just over an inch – and as the range above scenario, the lid is brushed aluminum. It is not only looks great in both the black and silver versions, but also brings a welcome measure of extra durability, but there is just a touch more flexible in the center of the eyelid than we had as ideal. The edge is also tilted back a nice touch. At least the isolation-type keyboard is matte black, which contrasts beautifully with surround sound. However, performance-wise is a bit of a mixed bag.

On the positive side, the keys are well spaced and large enough to be comfortable with a smooth and pleasant, while layout is very nice place and includes a whole number-pad. However, a minor complaint is that you’re forced to use keyboard shortcuts for just as there is no dedicated function keys or touch screen controls. Much more serious, however, are questions of feedback of the keyboard. The real keys themselves offer good response and a degree of Travel Nice, but noticeable flex combined with a distraction Rattle (especially towards the left edge of the keyboard) to affect the experience. Move the multi-touch touchpad, it is important and sensitive. Her highly textured surface gives a good idea and apart from its surroundings, but at the same time is literally on your fingertips. The chrome toggle switch below, is also on the steep side. [via trustedreviews]
