Dell Studio 1555 Midnight Blue Notebook
Readers will recognize the Dell Studio 1555. We reviewed a version of it in July and went away very impressed, in fact, so impressed that we have given a 9 / 10 and recommended. However, as was the case for a while now, it is possible to buy Dell laptops from retailers such as PC World, not just Dell itself. Today we are looking again, in his incarnation of detail, which is on sale for £ 599.
In addition to this award indicates, this 1555 is not among the most characteristic of high-end version we reviewed earlier, including the lack excellent backlit keyboard. However, the backlight side, it is always exactly the same and it is among the best keyboards you find on a laptop at this price. It has an excellent layout, the keys have a nice crisp action and useful shortcuts on the F-keys are promoted to the primary function of the ease of use.
Changing a view to the outside, our review has the same unit of ‘Midnight Blue’ arrival of the previously discussed, even if it is available in different colors for the same price. Whichever you go, even if we still really microsatin finish, which is more tactile than shiny finishes visible on many laptops and less prone to grease, dirt and scratches. Furthermore, the frame combines silver and black finishes with good results, creating a simple but attractive machine that does not try too hard to impress.
It is also a machine that has an excellent connectivity. For video, there are the usual HDMI and VGA outputs, while one of three USB ports as a black and eSATA connectivity. You have three audio connections, a line-in and two line-out, which sits alongside increasingly rare mini-FireWire port. A 34 mm ExpressCard slot, a Gigabit Ethernet port and a multi-format card reader at the end of things, ensuring that you should not be left wanting a ministry.
This is particularly true of the audio department, however, since 1555 the Studio features stereo speakers with a mid-range woofer integrated on the underside of the machine. This gives it an advantage over the majority of laptops on sale at the same price, since this system offers agréablement bodied audio. They do not replace a good set of speakers or headphones, but they are certainly an improvement over the average of your laptop.Unfortunately, the Studio 1555 is a little disappointed with its display, which is significantly lower than that found in our previous example. This version had a bigger grain and appearance of evil to produce subtle shades of color. This probably will not affect 90 percent of people who buy the 1555, but it is a little disappointing to find models sold at retail are not quite up to those sold by Dell itself. [via trustedreviews]
