DeLorme Earthmate PN-60w Satellite Communicator

Delorme and SPOT have jointly announced the Earthmate PN-60W satellite SPOT Communicator, which is “the world’s first wild, handheld GPS and satellite communications product. NP-60W comes with the exclusive satellite SPOT Communicator features for satellite message.

As a portable GPS unit, the Earthmate PN-60W offers 32-channel GPS chipset, dual processor heart, 3-axis electronic compass, sensitive barometric altimeter, altitude profiles, and file transfers GPX. On the other hand, the SPOT technology allows updates in real-time location and ability to seek help in an emergency.

Personalized messages and waypoints can be easily shared with social networking sites like SPOTadventures.com, Geo-caching.com, Twitter and Facebook. DeLorme Earthmate PN-60W satellite SPOT Communicator will be available in spring 2010. [via itechnews]
