Garmin Nuvi 1490T Portable Satelit Navigation Devices
Personal navigation devices are designed to be portable. But small screens, involving usability pocket may be a little difficult to read. There are more devices available, but they are not common, and usually priced according to size. Garmin clearly intends to change all that with the nuvi 1490T. Where most have a widescreen 4.3 inches diagonally, the 1490T extends 5in.

Despite its large screen, the nuvi 1490T is not particularly heavy or fat. In fact, this is not heavier than TomTom GO 740 LIVE, a simple device 4.3in widescreen and a little thinner. The screen mount is a simple suction cup and clip system, allowing you to connect the mini USB-based adapter car. This also includes the necessary equipment and air FM receiver for collecting latest RDS-TMC subscription for which the United Kingdom includes 1490T.
Garmin has updated its interface slightly to look a little cleaner. This was not strictly necessary, the design of Garmin is about the most logical market, with a clear hierarchy between the functions you use all the time and those that will use less frequently. Updating the most amusing is the section where you can change the icon car. Sounds like a great 3D showroom, with a ceiling projector pick your current selection. Not quite useful, but fun.
Entering a destination follows the usual options, and at first sight, this has not changed at all from previous Garmins. You can enter an address, select a point of interest (POI), or enter the first contact. However, it is an important addition to the address and POI items – the ability to make a general search. If you’re in the address section, Search All allows you to enter a street name without knowing the city it is in. You will then be given a list of possible matches to choose from. Navman added a similar feature with the Search Engine Keyword included in his Spirit devices, such as S100. It really help. [via trustedreviews]
