Hitachi Travelstar 7K500 500GB Hard Drive
Hitachi Global Storage Technologies announced the Travelstar 7K500, its fifth-generation 7200 RPM mobile hard disk drive is designed for laptops, gaming and professional solutions for external storage.The Travelstar 7K500 is a 2.5-inch 500GB hard drive that uses 3Gb / s SATA interface and provides a spin 7,200 rpm speed.
The Travelstar 7K500 also offers hardware-based Bulk Data Encryption (BDE) option and is the first mobile hard to be consistent with the TCG (Trusted Computing Group Opal) specification for safe storage.
Hitachi 7K500 is designed for energy efficiency with low power consumption of 0.69 watts idle and 1.8 watts in read / write. It is now available to OEM level. Other capacities of 120 GB, 160 GB, 250 GB and 320 GB and Hitachi will come out in November improved availability (EA) version that s specifically designed for applications requiring 24 × 7 operating in environments of lower transaction as blade servers, routers and network monitoring systems.
