HP Applications Store For TouchSmart Printers
A few months ago, we covered the HP Photosmart Premium Web-connected printer, which should be published at the end of the month. It seems that HP is borrowing a page from Apple’s Playbook in the Photosmart is also expected to have its own App store.Since the Photosmart TouchSmart comes with web technology, it allows the user access to the web via touch screen of 4.33 inches. A user can access the App Store by pressing the “Get More” option on this screen.

Hence, it becomes a virtual shopping network that the user can access multiple applications that are represented by small icons. There is also a place for user ratings, reviews and even a place to submit future applications.Current applications include Snapfish, Google Maps, Coupons.com, Weathernews Inc., and Fandango. There are many fun applications such as Dreamworks and Disney’s printers that allow users to print coloring pages and puzzles for children. Adults may like the implementation of Sudoku.
I mentioned before that HP is stealing the Playbook Apple, but I suddenly realized that the App Store are new business model for any piece of technology. Basically, you buy technology, then you customize it with whatever you want. Indeed, it is a sign of the times, a personal-age technology. [via coolest-gadgets]
