Our experience so far with “ultra portable” projector was a real mix. There was good (Samsung SP-400B), bad (the Optoma Piko PK101) and stepmother (the BenQ GP1). As such, I can honestly say that I did not really preconceived idea of how our latest pocket projector, LG HS102 is underway for the formatting. But with a surprisingly high price of £ 477.87 – more than £ 100 more expensive than Samsung P400B – it is fair to say that it really needs to sit near the right end of the range.

First impressions, at least, are promising. The HS102 is a small number in its glossy black outside, bright red buttons and little silver highlights. It is also much smaller than the Samsung P400B at 154 x 117 x 50 mm and weighs only 780g. This probably is not really pocket-sized in the way Optoma PK101 is extraordinarily small pocket size, but certainly ultra-portable – especially since it comes with a well-designed fabric case.

It is a pity, perhaps, it does not seem to be an easy way to cover the lens to prevent damage during transport. But then, the goal is indented quite from the front of the projector, they are less likely to be damaged in a projection or flush lens arrangement.Unfortunately, the HS102 is generally positive first impressions seem initially to tail as we check his contacts, because, as is common with the ultra-portable projectors, this is not exactly bulging connections. All you get is a VGA input, a 3.5mm AV input, USB, infra-red input and a headphone jack.

Things are in place, even if, as the search inside the HS102 find an adapter for composite video and audio get stereo 3.5 mm from the HS102 AV port, and better yet, a adapter for the video component in the VGA port. An adapter with Samsung P400B was greatly appreciated. [via coolest-gadgets]
