iRiver Similar Story eBook Reader
Cracking open the morning, if a little more engineering, packaging gift box shows a device somewhat similar in appearance to the Kindle. Dressed entirely smooth, matte white plastic, there is a QWERTY keyboard in a six-inch, 800 x 600 e-Ink display. Flanking the two are two sets of buttons Forward and Back, the presence of which makes it possible to use history in both portrait and landscape modes.
A glance at the bottom reveals a headphone jack, power / lock switch and (behind flap) a mini-USB port and an SD card reader. We especially like the addition this, especially given the presence of 2GB of integrated storage. Behind the story, meanwhile, is a thin slot within which is a built-in speaker for listening to audio books and memos are potentially created using the microphone. Record memos is one of a number of additional useful features almost like a timetable and implementation memo writing. We are not against such additions in itself, but as there is no way to synchronize them with any other service (Outlook, Google, etc.) or other device, it is difficult to see someone from the use seriously.
The music player, however, is a very useful function. Although the story itself is too big to replace a player/MP3 portable media player and music player a little too basic, lacking a library system and support meta tag, it is perfect for listening audiobooks. And since there is a built-in speaker, you can listen to books aloud before going to bed or anywhere private. It’s just a shame there is no bookmark function for audio files, or the ability of the tail of one chapter, lest you fall asleep and leave the player running in through the night! i brought 3 books on borders and i cant get them onto my iriver i cant find them in any of my documents and when i try and drag the books into the iriver book folder its not working can someone help me please!! thanks.
