Kingston SSDNow V Series 64GB SSD
SSDs come thick and fast today with performance and price vary widely. So more than ever, it is logical to find the right balance for your needs. As such, we are now looking at a cheaper 64GB SSD 2.5 inch we found the Kingston SSDNow V Series.

Unlike the first generation of SSDs in Kingston, which has been renamed versions of the Intel range, the range of Kingston SSDNow own. They are available in 64 GB and 128 GB capacities and desktop and portable kits or simply stand alone. The kit of office, we have here, includes mounting brackets and screws for mounting the disc into a bay standard 3.5-inch desktop PC hard drive, a SATA cable and a Molex to SATA adapter . You may have problems mounting the mounting brackets in some mechanisms owners without screw fixation in some cases, but we tried a few and they seemed to work well.
The portable kit is the name is misleading because it is not really a kit for adding an SSD in your laptop (you’d only need the player itself for that). Instead, it comes with a USB 2.5 inch external matching miniUSB to USB cable if it is to use it as an external drive for additional take around with your laptop. The disc itself uses a tweaked JMicron 602 controller has 64 KB of cache (as opposed to the version used by the summit that OCZ has 16 KB of cache and suffered severe stuttering). The memory chips themselves using MLC technology to store their data so it will not be the fastest player on the planet, but then that’s what the V stands; value.

Kingston claims the V series has a reading speed of 100MB / s and a write speed of 80MB / s, which is relatively low compared to some of the crazy numbers we see today, but if they are consistent figures – namely Drive doesn ‘t suffer from stuttering seen with Apex OCZ – they are perfectly acceptable for most applications and are adequate for portable use. In addition, when combined with fast access times of SSDs relief, overall responsiveness of your operating system should be significantly improved, even if it takes a little longer than some readers move large volumes of data.
Physically, the drive is everything you expect, it measures 69.85 mm x 100mm x 9.5mm, the screw holes are in standard position, and SATA connectors are where they always are. The only thing that is of note is the recovery of aluminum shell rather difficult and would take guts of this player is well protected. [via trustedreviews]
