Mitsubishi Unveils 155in OLED Display LCD

Is it hyped to the point of collapse. It is hailed as the all singing, all dancing technique to end plasma and LCD / LED and is probably true. On the other hand, with the first OLED – 11.1in the Sony XEL-1 – priced at £ 3,489, how did this ever happen.

Mitsubishi Unveils 155in OLED

Mitsubishi showed an OLED measuring a remarkable 115 inches diagonal at CEATEC 2009. Too good to be true? Kinda, Mitsubishi uses blocks of 1.5 x 1.5 inch OLED Modular that should simply be slotted in or out to create all the screen size is necessary. Yep, the idea of buying a 32in OLED TV and time in laying the 42in to 65in + 52in then then appealed to me too!

Of course there are but in all this, so let it be with them. But # 1 OLED degrades over time and these blocks have an estimated life of 20,000 hours (about 2 1 / 2 years of continuous use) something that would make any other commercial facilities difficult. But # 2, the price and availability remain unknown and even Teeny Tiny 1.5 x 1.5 inch blocks are unlikely to come cheap – or the target consumer – for a considerable time. [via trustedreviews]
