Netgear EVA2000 Digital Entertainer Network

There is a veritable cornucopia of streaming video players available. While you might think it’s great for us consumers, it is more difficult to decide which one should you choose especially since there is little that producers can do to differentiate their products.

This is Netgear’s Digital Entertainer Live (or if you prefer eva2000 product numbers) in a position somewhat delicate. At a touch under £ 100 it costs considerably more than the Asus Y! Make HDP-R1 and Western Digital WD TV, but unlike the apparatus, it will hardly even play 720p content (MPEG-2 codec is the only player decodes the resolution), not to mention 1080p videos. However, the player will give a new dimension of SD content it can play in 720p, and out on HDMI, and will play a variety of file formats in almost any container that you might think. But do not take my word, here’s a list.

There is another potential saving grace, as a plethora of services based on Internet video. In addition to YouTube, which is more normal rate, the Digital Entertainer gives access to live television streamed from the ‘Net and the BBC iPlayer. While the first of May is a bit redundant – why listen to the TV to a TV? – This is quite valuable.
