Philips Streamium NP2900 Network

Philips is no stranger to the network connected to streaming media. It’s Streamium line of products ranges from the likes of MCi500H Streamium Hi-Fi the Streamium NP1100, which supports streaming part, but relies on a set of speakers to be of some use. The Streamium NP2900 is in the middle of the line-up. With his device built-in speakers is a stand-alone capable, but hardly a replacement for a complete Hi-Fi system.

The number of secondary media streaming, radio systems, the Internet is growing so Philips has a fair amount of competition for the moment, the most obvious AirStream10 Monitor Audio Logitech Squeezebox Boom. As these two systems, the NP2900 connect to Internet radio stations, pull off all multimedia storage device or PC network that supports UPnP (either via Ethernet or Wi-Fi) and can be used as a set ‘pregnant for any device you want to connect. Unlike AirStream10 the NP2900 does not double as an FM radio and DAB, but for the thousands of “net base stations available, this is not a serious omission.

The NP2900 certainly makes a good first impression. Although its design is fairly standard compared to the AirStream10, it is always interesting and, of course, puts his 4in, 320 x 240 pixel color screen center stage. The bracket can be unscrewed and replaced by an alternative wall mounting if you prefer.

The NP2900 has four speakers, two pointing forward to the front, where you expect to be with two others at an angle of 45 degrees at opposite ends to the back of the camera. While this means you must place the NP2900 in front of a wall to get the best of them, the soundstage Philips improved claims to do so should be more than sufficient compensation.
