Ultra-portable MSI X-Slim X430 PowerPlay Notebook

MSI has apparently developed this product with an emphasis on the extended battery life from the beginning. One of the leading technical specs glaring is the not-so-common feature of choosing an AMD instead of Intel: Neo Athlon X2 dual-core offers more than acceptable performance, but more importantly , notes MSI requires only 18W to be fed, a reduction of 60 percent compared to the standard.

But when exclusive AMD PowerNow technology and PowerPlay take account of automatic control of CPU speed and voltage depending on the requirements of individual programs – as well as own MSI ECO Engine technology are added to the mix, the final result should be a long battery life in particular, especially if you choose to go to 8-cell battery instead of the default 4-cell.

Only 24.5 mm at its thickest point, the X430 weighs only 1.5 kilograms, but does not appear to have significant deficie ncies in all services – with the sole exception being the support for up to 2 GB DDR2 667 MHz memory, which may not be good news for players and photo / video editors. The 14-inch 1366×768 LED backlit screen play HD video with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200 graphics card and there is a choice of 320GB or 500GB SATA hard drive for storage. [via gizmag]
